SuperCoze is a Washington-based one-person band formed by Cody Choi. Their first album has already been out for over a year, but still is worth an article on MangoWave. The ten tracks on "Rainy Day Sunshine" were all written by Cody Choi who also played the guitars and sang all the lyrics - they received further support by Emmett Lukas (bass) and Baylee Harper (drums).
"Rainy Day Sunshine" is an empowering and honest album about mental health, finding oneself, being positive about one's own identity, confidence, and the neccessity to step out of one's comfort zone. SuperCoze spreads confidence and support on their album. Hence, "Rainy Day Sunshine" is a wholesome album covering numerous mental states and affirming their importance. Further, it is an album supporting their audience in self-care, self-confidence, and positivity about themselves. Therefore, "Rainy Day Sunshine" is an empowering powerload - not only for the LGBTQIA+ community.
The empowering messages on "Rainy Day Sunshine" are musicked via bouyant Surf Rock, colourful Twee and Indie Rock, and a sonic atmosphere that tastes like a soft breeze tinctured with sea salt and sunshine.
SuperCoze's Cody Choi names The Beach Boys one of their major influences which is hearable on the album. The Surf Rock impact on SuperCoze's Indie Rock also reminds me of Between Owls in some aspects, and partially you can draw musical parallels to England's Jess Silk.
Both, content-wise and music-wise, SuperCoze's debut is balm for the soul. The colourful soundscapes combined with the empowering lyrics are a great soundtrack to start one's day to with a self-confident smile.
Content from the MangoReviews will always stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
