Christian Wethered is a gifted sing and songwriter based in the capital of the Republic if Ireland whom you should keep in mind. With "La Madeleine", Wethered has released the fourth single of his upcoming album "Mon Petit Jardin". The song's title is a reference to the small town of the same name where Christian Wethered used to live.
Together with Dylan Lynch (drums), Sara O'Loughlin (backing vocals), and Cil Byrne (electric guitar, bass), Christian Wethered has musicked the atmosphere of his former hometown in the French Départment du Nord.

"La Madeleine" is a melacholically sweet slow jam. It is a Folk song full of passion, wistfulness, and desire for something impossible to put into words. Via bittersweet gloom, Christian Wethered and his fellow musicians merge Folk and Chanson, and add the suffix 'Noir' to it. "La Madeleine" is the kind of sound that needs a black-and-white music video featuring people watching an empty street while smoking cigarettes (preferably Gauloises or another French trademark).
Christian Wethered will have to live with comparisons to Nick Cave or Ween. Nevertheless, his sounds open up a beautiful new terrain between Irish and British Folk music, French Chanson, and all the gorgeous melancholia that lies between them.
