There are certain words that are very common and popular for creating rock band names. One of them is "Electric" as a prefix (Electric Orange, Electric Mud, Electric Octopus, Electric Feat, ...). Another one is "Mammoth" (Acid Mammoth, Mammoth Mammoth, Stone Age Mammoth, Mammoth Salmon, ...). And yes, there actually is a band called Electric Mammoth. But so much for that.

The Mammoth we are looking at now, is Stone Mammoth from West Finnish town Seinäjoki. The band was formed back 2012 and has now released their selftitled album via Inverse Records. On their Bandcamp page (see liks at the end of th article) the band has already published the nine tracks in a different order in March 2020.
Stone Mammoth are:
Teemu Alho - drums,
Juha Jaskari - bass,
Jani Paanananen - guitar,
Timo Vuorela - guitar,
Jesse Etelämäki - vocals.

Contrary to what might be assumed from the name Stone Mammoth, the impact of Doom Metal or Stoner Rock is rather small (and yet it is there). But predominantly, the Finnish quintet pays tribute to 70s Hard and Heavy Rock. Also, the Rock'n'Roll is strong with the band from Seinäjoki, especially in the dancefloor destroyer 'Lock'n'Load'.

Stone Mammoth's debut is a heavy wrecking ball for snowball fights, drinking a barrel of beer or riding on a mammoth. The album combines the velocity of kick-ass Rock'n'Roll with the power of Heavy Rock and adds tasty tocuhes of fuzzy Stoner and Doom Metal. This LP is a hot tip for fans of Kendolls, VUG, or Dozer.
