Vestindie were originally formed in 2009 when they played Hardcore. They released an EP with the great name "We are the Lords of Hellfire and we bring you... fire". But soon after that they split up. It took some years until the band was reformed and adapted a much darker impact. Nevertheless, the years is 2021, and we can now listen to the very first full-length release by Vestindien.

The seven tracks on "Null" are defined by an intangible cold darkness. The frosty atmosphere of Nordic Black Metal goes hand in hand with the hypnotizing aura of Post Metal, and together they create a powerful hurricane of ice. Another dominant feature on Vestindien's debut is the impact of Hardcore Punk. Frequently, the band skedaddles from the atmospheric themes and dashes into some raging moshpit à la Kvelertak or Drittmaskin.

Despite the cold you can clearly recognize that Vestindien had a lot of fun writing and recording these songs. "Null" is full of gimickry and playful madness. In some songs they implement oriental scales to the leads and the breaks between Post Metal anthems and Hardcore Punk attacks are very enoyable. Also, the end of the title track is defined by exaggerated use of filters which made me think "yup, that's it. Either my soundcard or my harddrive has just deceased".
