Written during the first lockdown in New Zealand, Nicky Moran's tenth (!) album has been released while the sparsely populated country was under lockdown number three. On fifteen songs, the talented artist from Hamilton (or: Kirikiriroa) on the North Island spreads the hope and the positivity that so many people need in these weird times. Nicky Moran mainly combines two ways to do so. Firstly, there is her musical style that predominantly merges Soul, Folk, and Alt Country. Secondly, Nicky Moran makes the message of her Christian belief a major part of her lyrics. This may appear odd to some readers, having a Christian gospel album featured on a blog that frequently features Black Metal, but is that not what diversity in an open-minded society should be about?

With her stunning voice, thrilling arrangements, and gorgeous harmonies, Nicky Moran enchants the audience's ears, and creates a heart-warming sonic experience. Funky Soul themes lead into atmospheric Americana passages and dynamic Alt Country and crisp Folk Rock. Cuddlesome sounds are not missing either on "Unlocked" as the heartful Soul Rock ballad 'Faith come alive' beautifully proves. Altogether, Nicky Moran's thenth album contains an hour of hope-spreading and empowering music that has the potential to make a lot of people regain faith in themselves.
