Earlier this year, Rihards Lībietis from Latvian capital Riga has released his latest so far album "Willful Blindness" on which he was supported by a dozen of instrumentalists - The Rihards Lībietis Orchestra. Only half a year later, Rihards Lībietis is back with another solo album (and a few guest musicians). "Līnijas un Miniatūras" (Latvian: "Lines and Miniatures") was released on October 26 via Persian Records. Here, we are taking a closer look on the ex ante single 'Caurvīt Paralēles' (Latvian: 'Transcending Parallels'), the album's second track.

This instrumental tells of inner growth, of the transcendental experience of leaving one's usual path, and of making the next big step. Fans of plumber brothers Mario and Luigi would probably depict this instance by someone eating a huge mushroom.
Rihards Lībietis uses monumental Post Rock sounds to musick this personal growth. Soothing and soft guitars resemble gentle waves on a water surface until the massive riffs rise above like a vast rock emerging from the depths of the water. The movement on 'Caurvīt Paralēles' can be defined by two directions - ascension and extension. Thus, 'Caurvīt Paralēles' really pictures the transcension of a person ideally.
