Single Review: Never Knew - Better Views (2021) (Guest Feature by Ilya Yclept)

An impressive one-man-band Never Knew, has released a brand new banger “Better Views”. Well, I hope it’s gonna perform better than the previous album "Internal Relapse", because it's totally worth it - even though it got featured in the All Things Heavy on Spotify and gained some traction in 2020, it clearly wasn’t enough to amass a somewhat decent following.

"Internal Relapse" sometimes tended to enter the more mainstream metal niche with tracks like 'Castaways' (which was a few steps away from cloud rap), and contained a lot of clean singing alongside the screaming. “Better Views” however demonstrates a more metalcore-focused approach, with intense guitars, djenty riffing and way less clean vocals, while still remaining in the modern post-hardcore/metalcore division and zeitgeist: imagine if Architects banged Between the Buried and Me, while Currents were taping it. And everything is composed by just one person.

As a summary - it’s a pretty solid release for fans of new school metalcore with a decent technical and melodic levels.
