"Deal Breaker" is the second full-length by Australian Retro Rock duo Poor Little Things. Band members Tina and Dave invite us on a sonic time travel to the Golden Era of Hard and Heavy Rock. The album transfers us to a time when there were no mobile phones, no social media shit storms, and no autotune vocals. Instead, "Deal Breaker" tastes like petrol-driven cars, telephone booths, cold beer, and sweet freedom. Retro fans, turn up the volume! If you loved "Stranger Things" for its soundtrack, Poor Little Things' sophomore album will please you, too.
The recipe for these ten songs is simple but successful. Dynamic Hard Rock riffs roll forward like the wheels of a pickup truck on the highway, glammy motifs provide extra catchiness, and Tina Jackon's thrilling vocals enchant the ears. Between snotty sounds, body-moving rhythms, and anthemics choruses, Poor Little Things spread nostalgia and a deep love for 70s and 80s rock music. Thus, "Deal Breaker" is a great release for the road or for the dancefloor. I can imagine these tunes to make a live audience go crazy on the dancefloor, too. Nevertheless, the glammy sound is lacking recall value. Indeed, "Deal Breaker" is catchy, energetic, and the band could easily headline a Waynes-World-themed party; yet I wish the band's upcoming sounds will shine out more.
Music from every post will stay in the MangoRotation playlist for 14 days.
