Art and Post Rock duo Lore City from Portland, Oregon are celebrating their tenth anniversairy. This is a beautiful opportunity for the band to release their fourth longplayer "Participation Mystique" which they distribute via their own label Lore City Music.
Laura Mariposa Williams (vocals, keyboards) and Eric Angelo Bessel (percussions, keyboards, guitars) have taken the energy from a once-in-five-hundred-years constellation of planets that occured in early 2020, and have transformed this galactic power into nine new songs. It happened within the constellation of Capricorn, that Saturn was aligned directly with Pluto.
"Particpation Mystique" is a deeply atmospheric and psychedelic journey that reveals ancient connections between spirit and material. As Lore City merge Art Rock, Post Rock, and Darkwave to a sedating oeuvre, those intergalactic and interdimensional relationships become perceptible. The nine-track album feels like exploring one's inner realms and thereby travelling through the universe, too. Smallest parts of human perception become gateways to vast planetary constellations, and like on a heavy psychedelic trip, dots become line, and lines form a huge picture.
Whether you can work with esoteric psychedelia or not, is not neccessary for enjoying this beautiful piece of artistic and sensual music. Lore City have produced a stunning sonic trance - music for meditation, for inner peace, and for pure relaxation.
