"Morbid Illusion" is the fourth album by Denver's multi-instrumentalist and solo artist Sharone. The Coloradan artist presents ten new tracks, all written and produced by herself, and recorded with the help of several guest musicians. On the new album, Sharone lets us dive into a dark and fantastic sonic reverie. The sinister topics concerned on "Morbid Illusions" reach from hopelessness to confidence, from depression and isolation to self-confidence, and from stagnation to empowerment and passion. Sharone's fourth full-length release is a collection of anthems for not giving up and believing in oneself, no matter how dark the night might be.
Music-wise, you can obviously hear that Sharone is gifted and trained musician. The songwriting reveals that the artist is conversant with symphonic arrangements and opulent enactment. Thus, "Morbid Illusion" is a highly artistic album merging classical elements with atmospheric Metal and Rock. With the confidence of an opera singer, Sharone presents her empowering vocals over heavy arrangements of Melodic and Alternative Metal, and the gloomy mood of Gothic Rock. The artistic and symphonic character of "Morbid Illusion" do not contradict the albums brachially metallic sound. Thus, this 10-track work of Modern Metal is a stunning work that will easily please fans of Warlock and Within Tempation likewise.
