Stockholm's trio Tyrann can probably be called a supergroup. The band consists of Joseph Tholl (Tribulation, Ex-Enforcer), Jakob Ljungberg (Second Sun, Ex-Tribulation), and Tobias Lindqvist (Enforcer, Terminal). With "Djävulens Musik" (Swedish: "The Devil's Music"), Tyrann have recently released their first full-length album.
The album has been released on vinyl (Electric Assault Records; USA), CD (Inti Records; Peru), and cassette (Knight of Diamonds Records; Sweden). By the time this review was written, all analogue formats have already been sold out. Until a second issue will be available, you can stream and download the album on the labels' Bandcamp profiles, or listen to it on Spotify.

Nomen es omen for the eight-track debut album by Tyrann since "Djävulens Musik" is a beautiful display of occvlt and satanic Heavy Metal. And by Heavy Metal, I mean real, autochthonous, honest, crispy Heavy Metal. Tyrann play a powerful hommage to the early days of the genre. This is pre-NWoBHM, pre-Power, pre-Wayne's-World Metal.
Straightforward and unadorned, Tyrann shoot anthem after anthem on "Djävulens Musik". With lyrics partially in English and predominantly in Swedish, the trio spreads tons of joy, fun, and love for the Prince of Darkness.
In some darkly harmonic parts, I can sense an impact by Ljungberg's other band Second Sun. Elsewhere, certain parallels to Speedtrap can be drawn. Anyways, "Djävulens Musik" is an awesome and honest album with a clear message: 'Don't make Fashion of our Heavy Metal Passion'!
