New Hampshire's Authentic Dissent are a new band that keeps the spirit of pre-Millenium heavy music alive. Dave Lawley (bass), Mike Osborn (guitar), Mike Boisclair (drums), and Brian Gates (vocals) have released their debut EP "Gradually... then suddenly" earlier this year. The five-track CD is an autochthonous and honest work in the vein of Heavy, Prog, and Thrash Metal legends such as Accept, Destruction, or pre-"Black Album"-Metallica.

"Gradually... the suddenly" is introduced by the instrumental 'Res Ipsa Loquitur' (Latin: 'speaking for itself'). The first song creates a dark tension and raises anticipation for a heavy thunderstorm. And th audience will not be disappointed as the title track and the following songs 'The Weight of the World' and 'Survival of the Fittest' are massive headbangers. Broadshouldered and with full force, the quartet from New Hampshire comes in like a squadron of wrecking balls. Finally, the rather calm 'Resolve' and its sensual lead guitar feel like a thick mist covering the rubble and debris. Authentic Dissent's "Gradually... then suddenly" is heavy music for the fast lane, and goes perfectly in a playist with Tempest Rising and Shatter Brain.
