A new release by Moscow's [addicted label] always makes me very happy. Hence, today is a good since Grey Mouse are releasing their fifth full-length album "A Moment of Weakness". The band was originally formed in the late 90s by Alexey Chunikhin and has since then gone through plenty of changes in their line-up, and has steadily experimented with different styles of psychedelic and melancholic music. Their newest work can be located in the realms of Psychedelic Folk, Alternative Rock, Alt Country, and the deeply stoic sounds of Soviet Rock.

"A Moment of Weakness" - what a powerful name for an album that is defined by selfreflecting and considerate soundscapes. The sonic construct resembles a person looking back on their own life without remorse, and soberly regarding each part of it - good, bad, and ugly.
Driven by a warm Country guitar, dark Alternative Rock atmosphere, and psychedelically thrilling Folk harmonies, Grey Mouse create a sonic narrative that is both, gloomy and soothing. Outstanding features are the dynamic percussions and drums, and the passionate sounds of the cello.

The only other artist coming to my mind when listening to this album are Argentina's Kutna Hora. Grey Mouse's "A Moment of Weakness" is an impressive album that is ineffably powerful although it is built from smooth sounds.
