Brighton's Tenderhooks invite us on a very special sonic journey. As the song's title already tells us, we are encountering the space beneath the surface of our planet. "Travelling Underground" does not only show us the physical spheres of the tunnel networks, but predominantly the lowest of human behaviour towards our environment. Exploitation of nature for the sake ressources and profit are depicted by the terrible state Mother Earth is in due to us. Hence, the song mirrors humanity's cruel treatment of the only inhabitable planet known to ourselves.

It is almost cynical how boppy, lightfooted and cheery the song is, music-wise. Tenderhooks provide us with a banging and massively rolling Blues Rock anthem. Stunning arrangements, similar to Kamala's Krautjazz, carry the sad narrative forward and therefore make the serious content even more comprehensible. "Travelling Underground" is a call for action to preserve our environment, a sober take on an unconvenient truth, and an absolutely awesome song.
