Some months have passed since Low Girl's song 'ICU' was featured in the Discoveries of the Week. Today, we are listening to the recently released EP "Big Now" by the Indie Pop from Hertfordshire. The musician, formerly known as Sara, latterly known as Low Girl, has written songs for at least twelve years, and is hereby presenting a collection of five dreamy, smooth, and soulful songs.
The EP is defined by gentle, salutogenetic sonic reverie. "Big Now" is a release for the dreamers and for everyone who has gone through times. Hence, Low Girl's EP conveys the central message that better times will come. The soft piano track 'Okay Someday' (video above), is a hymn for concentrating on your own strengths and raising up for a better personal future. This self-confident feature leads through the EP on a golden thread and is musicked in versatile ways. Just take the dynamic title track with its Indie Rock features or the final song 'Sertraline' that sonically resembles a phoenix' rise from the ashes.
Low Girl's "Big Now" is a melancholic and yet uplifting EP. It is a beautiful work of Synthwave and Dream Pop spreading positivity and hope. A powerful release with soft tones that sounds perfect on rainy days - but also goes along very well with sunny weather.
