"Treacle & Vitriol" is the debut EP by Long Island's Sylvie Yannello - a real autodidact multiinstrumentalist. Readers from New York might know the artist as she is also giving piano lessons. Her five-track debut is a collection of five singles on which Sylvie Yannello plays the piano while drums, bass, guitar were recorded by several talented Blues musicians from New York City. "Treacle & Vitriol" contains five little stories about false idols, narcissism, life, crime, and two tributes to Elvis Costello.

Bass, guitars, and drums add a certain proto-Rock'n'Roll air to the EP. But predominantly, the music on these five sonic tales is driven by Sylvie Yannello. Her piano play is an amazing display of bouyant, lightfooted and dynamic movement. With or without backing instruments, this is intensely exciting Rhythm and Blues. Furthermore, Yannello's vocals cover a vast range from soothing sonorous tones up to high and clear chants.
Sylvie Yannello hereby indulges us with cheery contemporary Blues and Rock. Both, opening track 'No Resemblance' and final song 'Baptised at the Gramercy' are influenced by Elvis Costello. My personal favourite though, is the rather psychedelic title 'No Good Deed'.
